When Stan Smith meets Tennis Hu. And it’s an instant future classic

When cults meet, they end up passing something on to each other. And that’s how the ‘exchange’ of energy and style in the context of adidas Originals between the universe marked by Stan Smith and that which refers to Pharrell Williams is to be understood.
The first sneaker, born in ’71, is such an evergreen that it has already experienced the life cycle that expands the product from sporting use to a design and status symbol, to then rethink and relaunch itself (2014), simultaneously inside and outside tradition.
In the second case, the novelty of the Tennis Hu, the first product created exclusively by the musician-designer and immediately a case, also for a DNA that aims to shatter barriers (hu as in human, beyond ethnicities and cultures).
The encounter between the two realities was inevitable and could not help but result in mutual contamination.
Today it colors – entirely or partially, only in the details – the former in the pastel tones that dress the latter in their autumnal edition (Tactile Rose, Icey Blue, and Linen Green).
The soul of the Tennis Hu, on the other hand, feeds on the heritage of Stan Smith, starting from its forms (reimagined here with new materials and functions) and from its ‘expanded’ concept of a shoe born for tennis but evolved (here adopting the proportions of running shoes).
