Want the new Balenciaga sneakers? It might be too late

Introduced during the Spring/Summer 2024 show, the new Balenciaga Cargo sneakers are proof that for Demna, there are no limits when it comes to shoe size. With a sole inspired by 3XL sneakers, the new Balenciaga sneaker combines elements from Demna’s past creations, such as the Track and Triple S, along with pre-worn and reflective details on the upper. The shoe features a metal logo plaque and embossed 3B motif on each side, giving it a retro look reminiscent of the shoes your fathers might have worn for household chores.

Historically known for oversized sneakers, Balenciaga’s Cargo sneakers push the boundaries of oversized even further. To give you an idea, the shoe is only available in limited sizes – 37 and 40 for women, and 40, 42, and 44 for men – with a fit that definitely requires some trial and error to find the right size.

First seen at the Paris show, the sneakers were made available in a limited quantity of a thousand pairs on the brand’s website and in select stores worldwide. Unlike the version that will be released in the coming months, this limited edition features microfiber and mesh details with a color scheme of grey, black, and yellow. A true collectible piece, with more color options to follow as seen on the runway.

Since his creative direction at Balenciaga began, Demna has crafted some iconic sneakers for the Kering Group brand. From the commercial successes of the Triple S and Speed, to the more recent 3XL and Bouncer models. While the mentioned sneakers are typically available in-store and online, getting your hands on the limited edition Balenciaga Cargo sneakers may require quick action. In fact, by the time you read these lines, it might already be too late.
