The main questions when it comes to buying shoes and sneakers online are still fundamentally two: a) “Will they be my size?” and b) “How will they look once worn?” The first point still seems to be quite difficult to solve today, but when it comes to the second one, a new innovation is coming from the world of smartphones: straight from Belarus, the startup Wannaby has decided to launch its Wanna Kicks, an app that allows you to see various sports shoes on your feet using the possibilities offered by augmented reality.
The operation, as shown in the video above, is quite simple. You choose the sneaker model you want to virtually try on, with various available colors, and use your smartphone’s camera to capture your foot, bare or with a sock. The system will then project the image of the selected shoe onto your foot, allowing for an augmented reality try-on on the screen.
But that’s not all. The app is also connected to the websites of various footwear brands, allowing the user to potentially make an online purchase. Of course, the catalog of this first version of Wanna Kicks offers only about ten of the most popular models, but iPhone users can already download it and try it while waiting for future enhancements.
