Thus Vans pays homage to its 50th anniversary by reinterpreting the beloved Checkerboard motif for the limited edition “Checkered Past” collection. Launched with the exclusive Vault by Vans brand, this deluxe line of 10 items expresses the classic motif with handwoven leather, enriching footwear and accessories.
The Checkerboard is a sacred symbol in Vans’ fifty-year history, as it appeared on the most popular models when the company was known as the Van Doren Rubber Company and was still family-owned and has remained there to this day, where Vans is considered a global icon in the world of extreme sports, music, fashion, and art.
The “Checkered Past” collection pays tribute to this traditional motif with a series of Original Classic models and Leather Checker Bag. Thanks to the fine leather, the Checkerboard motif transforms from print to a complex woven surface of historic Vans models. Among the Original Classics you will find the OG Classic Slip-on LX and OG SK8-Hi LX in multicolor, black, white, and blue checkerboard versions. The Leather Checker Bag completes the collection with two colorways that recall the footwear segment.
