Timothée Chalamet collaborates with Nike for new Dunk shoes

Timothée Chalamet came up with a brilliant idea: collaborating with Nike to create one of the most appreciated sneakers from the Swoosh brand, the Nike Dunk Low, in anticipation of the release of Wonka, the movie by Paul King – hitting theaters on December 14th – where the actor plays the famous chocolatier from the pen of British author Roald Dahl. The news comes directly from Timothée Chalamet‘s Instagram account where the actor shared several images and a video of the creation process of the new Nike Dunk sneakers, a model favored by personalities like Ben Affleck.

What makes these new Dunks special?

First and foremost, the fact that they were conceived by one of the most stylish actors around, who has once again shown good taste as a sneaker designer with Nike. The Nike by Timmy sneakers take inspiration from the wardrobe of the Willy Wonka character portrayed by Chalamet, with the burgundy of his coat being the predominant color on a white upper that seems brushed with motifs reminiscent of the lining of the same jacket, which Chalamet apparently even brought to the Nike campus in Beaverton, Oregon for the design team’s reference. In short, every detail has been meticulously studied. From the hand-embroidered Swoosh to the velvet laces that would complement Wonka-Timmy perfectly, the heel tab features the cotton candy cloud that Wonka sells in the new film, while the tongue on the heel showcases a brown leather tab complete with the recognizable “W.” of Wonka.

Produced in only five copies, these new coveted items are not for sale but are up for grabs just like the golden tickets from the film, which allow a visit to the chocolate factory. For those interested, all it takes is to submit a one-minute video revealing their own design inspired by Willy Wonka. Nike’s contest, #WonkaPureImaginationContest, will reward five winners with a pair of autographed Dunk Low “Wonka” by Timothée Chalamet.
