They are precious, unique, and very expensive. Some buy them to collect them, as if they were true jewels, hoping that one day their value will triple. Others use them every day, just ask Kanye West. Here is the ranking of the ten most expensive sneakers in the world, compiled by Highsnobiety. Among them, there are new models, limited editions, or collaborations with celebrities, as well as vintage shoes that are worth hundreds, if not thousands, of euros.
Heading the list, in terms of quantity, is Nike with six shoes. The American sportswear brand is one of the most sought after in the market. In fact, it closed the first quarter of 2015-16 with a turnover of 8.41 billion dollars, up 5% compared to the 7.98 billion of the same period of the previous year (+23% net profit, editor’s note). Truly an excellent result. The same goes for the Adidas group: the brand closed the second quarter of 2015 with revenues of 3.91 billion euros, +15% compared to the same period last year.
