Adidas and Palace Skateboards have had a fruitful collaboration since 2015. The first result of this partnership was the creation of the Palace Pro Trainer, a sneaker with a completely new silhouette that merges key design elements from the Adidas Gazelle with the ZX Flux. Since then, the two labels have launched numerous sneaker models, including the EQT trainer, the Palace Pro 2 Waterproof from 2017, pastel-colored Stan Smiths, and all-black Superstars. Following a collaboration earlier this year focused on yoga, Adidas and Palace have now turned their attention to the track, working on a project that led to the creation of the Adidas Ultraboost 21 in limited edition.

The sustainable Adidas Ultraboost 21 by Palace Skateboards
First launched in 2015 and considered by the German brand as its “biggest sneaker ever,” the Ultraboost OG by Adidas features an innovative Boost foam midsole designed to provide greater energy return, making running easier. These streamlined sneakers have become the running shoes of choice for Harry Styles, Kanye West, David Beckham, and Justin Bieber, while a variety of designers, including Kith and Bape, have reinterpreted them in recent years. The Ultraboost 21 is the updated version with an even sleeker silhouette and technical optimizations that have increased comfort.

In this work with Adidas, Palace Skateboards has reimagined the Ultraboost 21 in a sustainable version. The shoe is made with 81% Primeblue, a high-performance recycled yarn containing at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic. This plastic, often used in Adidas collections, comes from the cleanup of remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines. The sneakers feature a checkered knit pattern, the Ultraboost branding on the heel, and a new logo Palace Skateboards Mobius Recycling replacing the Adidas signature on the tongue. Adidas and Palace Skateboards have also utilized their partnership to create running apparel that will bring style to our morning 5k run. An elegant Primegreen running cap and high-performance socks are crafted from an impressive 68% and 97% recycled materials, respectively.
