The sneakers from “Friends” have arrived

Among the millions of devoted fans of the sitcom “Friends” is also Boston Celtics basketball player, Kyrie Irving. “For me, ‘Friends’ was one of those TV shows that left an impact on me,” said the number 11 of the Celtics in an interview with AllinReplica America a few years ago. “Consider that when I started watching ‘Friends’ I was very young. One day I sat on the couch, turned on the TV and watched an entire season, or almost the whole thing. That day I fell in love with the show. Of course, when I was a kid, many things didn’t make sense to me, and I didn’t understand many jokes because of my young age. But now, I understand them all and I still love it the same way as back then.” As proof of Irving’s love for the series from the Nineties, one only needs to look at his left arm where he decided to get the logo tattooed.

Sponsored by Nike, the NBA player also has a collection of sneakers from the swoosh brand and a new model, unsurprisingly, linked to his favorite sitcom. The news had leaked a few months ago on Instagram @sneaker_speculation but now the first images confirm that Irving’s dream and more are a reality. The Nike Kyrie 5 Friends feature the colors of the logo such as red, blue, and yellow, and have a black base, a Flytrap lacing system, and the word Friends as a small side label on the left side of the left shoe, while on the right side, we find the word Kyrie following the same style as the sitcom’s logo. Completing the look are black and red rope laces. Release date and price have not yet been disclosed, but we expect it will be a limited edition collection.
