2019 has just begun but there are already many new releases in terms of sneakers. Among these we find models that look to the past, particularly to the ’90s, reissues of cult pieces, limited editions, but also completely revolutionary footwear, in shapes and materials. The Superga 9TS for example fits into the ’90s inspired street style aesthetic, with a robust design, a thick rubber sole and swallowtail logo. Even New Balance pays homage to those years with a new silhouette inspired by the iconic model 997. A spring preview available starting from February 2. The 997 boasted in those years a new technology and a new aesthetic; the silhouette featured the “moulded” system where C-Cap and ENCAP technologies were fused into a single midsole: the former in the forefoot and the latter in the rearfoot, for a design and a combination of cushioning, flexibility and stability unparalleled. In 2019, the new design 997H offers further evolution thanks to the GCEVA technology that provides a modernized sole and a lighter fit. This model is introduced with the “Classic 90’s Pack”, a series of innovative colorways inspired by the ’90s decade.

And what about the Air Max2 Light from Nike? Launched in 1994 it immediately became a cult classic and now returns in an almost perfect replica of the original: two different pressure systems in a single Air unit.
