The collaboration between Teddy Santis and New Balance through the brand Aimé Leon Dore, founded by him in 2014, has been going on for several years. In the past, they have produced highly sought-after versions of the 550 silhouette by NB that are not available anywhere today, as well as a white and blue 991 model and the ruddy 990.

In 2021, Santis and the Boston sportswear brand decided to step up their game with the announcement that the Greek designer would take on the role of creative director at the company. This choice was probably driven by a hope for renewal and the desire to benefit from the vision of the prolific designer and the spirit infused with Aimé Leon Dore. In his role at New Balance, Santis oversees all the creative direction of the brand’s premium Made in USA line from Massachusetts: shoes made with soft suede and luxury leather. In April of this year, he unveiled his first NB collection. The highly anticipated capsule is available as of today, after a series of delays due to the pandemic and subsequent shipping issues.

The collection includes three classic 990 Made In USA – the V1, V2, and V3, characterized by no-frills silhouettes that become larger, bulkier, and more like a dad shoe as the number increases. The sneaker designed by Santis is available in the typical grey colorway of the model, with the addition of the new marbled tone “marblehead”. All the shoes, crafted in premium leather and mesh with textured details on the upper, have been designed to complement any item in our wardrobe. Upon the announcement of his role at Balance, Santis emphasized: “I was drawn to New Balance for how it built a company founded on values like dependability and originality, without just resting on the present and passing fashion trends”.

In addition to the sneakers, Santis has also created comfortable clothing pieces, just as he did in his collaborations with ALD and NB. A hoodie has been made using ultra-soft French terry fabric that pays homage to New Balance’s heritage as a sportswear brand, while the T-shirt and joggers feature a tiny logo and are ideal for everyday wear. All products are available in neutral tones of navy, grey, black, and marblehead.
