A release date has been set for the new Balenciaga Defender sneakers: March 1st, both in stores and online.
The model, first presented during the infamous “Red Carpet” fashion show in Paris last September, features rounded volumes and an aggressive sole with grooves, reminiscent of a tire. The upper, leather-free, combines mesh and technical fabrics and is offered in two colorways: faded black or dirty white, to tone down an already imposing aesthetic.

A design that is already poised to set a new standard. Balenciaga is no stranger to this type of relevance, considering how a model like the Triple S, born in 2017, has transitioned from being perceived as one of the many excesses existing only in the fashion world bubble to becoming the archetype of the prevailing chunky shoes trend.

The evangelist of this new sneaker trend is Justin Bieber, captured for the campaign images in the Los Angeles recording studio where he often works by photographer Stef Mitchell. A campaign that is an ongoing project where images are released in drops, featuring celebrity associates and friends of the maison, including Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Isabelle Huppert, and model Tommy Blue.
