The Air Jordan 1 Low Quai 54 Arises from 20 Years of Basketball Experience

Two decades have passed since Hammadoun Sidibé and Thibaut de Longeville worked together to bring to life the famous Streetball World Championship, Quai 54, which kicked off in Paris in 2003. To celebrate this significant milestone, the Jordan brand has collaborated with the official tournament for the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low: the Quai 54. While the two entities have worked together countless times in the past, their 2023 partnership might be considered their most extraordinary offering.

Colorway is Key

One of the first things you’ll notice about the brand-new Air Jordan 1 Low is its color combination. While the previous sneakers followed the traditional Parisian palette of blue, white, and red, this one opts for a mix of white, black, green, and red. The shades alternate to create an asymmetrical and non-matching aesthetic between one shoe and the other.

Material Choices

The Jordan brand has also enhanced the materials used in the making of its exclusive model. Crafted from leather, nubuck, and suede, the Nike Swoosh glides on the lateral and medial sides with a matte finish, while brand details are embroidered on the tongue and heel. The Air midsole is dipped in a vintage cream color, and the model is packaged in a special shoebox, complete with a limited edition keychain to commemorate a truly special event, the grand Quai 54 anniversary: 20 years!

Although we are not yet halfway through the year, the Air Jordan 1 Low has already introduced some very important color variations, such as the Born To Fly and UNC To Chicago. The former is inspired by the world of skateboarding and features a combination of Sail, University Blue, Game Royal, and Coconut Milk colors in leather with mesh tongue and lining. The Swoosh is ablaze in a mix of blue and yellow, while the gray sole completes the silhouette’s design.

The latter, constructed in pebbled leather, pays tribute to two of the teams that the legendary Jordan played for: the University of North Carolina and the Chicago Bulls. The alternating primary colors of the two teams are accompanied by black and white: the Chicago Bulls’ red colors the Nike AIR lettering on the tongue badge end; the UNC’s University of North Carolina’s blue tints the Swooshes and almost all of the shoe’s back portion.

Additionally, we will see the return of the legendary ‘Metallic Blue‘ from 1985, and in the next two months, some major collaborations are expected to be launched. There will never be a shortage of exciting surprises!
