The Air Jordan 1 High OG Sky J Mauve has been on our radar since the beginning of the year and, after many announcements and rumors, the highly anticipated sneaker finally has an official release date. Although initial reports suggested a launch in December, the sneaker is actually arriving much sooner than we expected. There is certainly no room for complaints. On the contrary: we are in the presence of a practically perfect Jordan model.
Although the origins of the color choice have not yet been disclosed, it seems that this particular shade of purple is inspired by the color of the Chicago sky during Michael Jordan’s 1985 “Jumpman” photoshoot. Crafted in leather, these new sneakers feature a white base with Sky J Mauve panels on the toe, heel, and lacing system.
Complementary cotton laces tie it all together, while the Nike swoosh is embossed on the lateral and medial sides. Additional branding is present on the tongue, while the iconic basketball winged symbol is embossed on the ankle strap. The sole is in lavender rubber, while the midsole is in Air.
2023 has been a great year for the Air Jordan 1. Not only have sneaker enthusiasts been blessed with colorways like Palomino and UNC Toe, but they have also received some very special editions such as the Lost & Found and the Bephie’s Beauty Supply x Union LA collaboration. Although MJ’s flagship silhouette has been circulating for nearly four decades, it is still considered by many as one of the greatest basketball shoes of all time.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG Sky J Mauve will be available from October 14th (not December, as initial rumors suggested!) on the official Nike website, the Snkrs app, and at select retailers worldwide, priced at approximately 195 euros.
