In addition to the collaboration with Clarks a few weeks ago, Supreme has reunited with another old flame for the Supreme x Vans Spring 2023 collection. The partnership, focused on the Skate Grosso Mid and Era silhouettes, features images of one dollar bills. Because money is very handy to all of us.
Compared to previous projects of the streetwear brand with the famous skate company, the collection of four shoes stands out in a particular way. The Skate Grosso Mid has been completely reimagined in three colorways: black, cream, and pink. The base is characterized by a graphic in the shape of a dollar bill, covered with panels of premium suede leather and finished with the iconic jazz stripe by Vans, an icon of the skate and street scene, running on the lateral and medial sides.

The Era, on the other hand, are characterized by a more traditional canvas structure and fully covered with the dollar bill design. The Supreme brand is embroidered on the heels of each shoe in gothic font, and all the shoes rest on vulcanized rubber midsoles, specially designed to ensure maximum performance in skateboarding, comfortable and grip-friendly.
Currently, Supreme has tied itself practically to every possible name under the streetwear sky. However, even though the label founded by James Jebbia is far from its Lower Manhattan roots, it is worth remembering that Supreme was originally a brand made by skaters, for skaters. The brand’s saga is intimately connected with its very first emporium, still located on picturesque Lafayette Street in Soho, the pulsating heart of New York fashion. Back then, the street represented an oasis of peace and tranquility among antique shops, the still-active fire station, a mechanic workshop, and Keith Haring’s intriguing store. There was a strong connection with the artistic environment, whose influence would be the key to the brand’s triumph.
The store layout was completely innovative: the products for sale were placed on the sides of the structure, leaving a spacious and free space in the middle, perfect for skateboarding. It was a hybrid between a shop, a skate park, and an art gallery, designed specifically for skaters who immediately became devoted visitors. In a short time, the store gained widespread notoriety throughout the city, becoming an essential meeting place for skateboarding enthusiasts: an oasis dedicated to true connoisseurs. While other collaborations may seem rather high (we’re looking at you, Jacob & Co.), this Vans project is much closer to Supreme’s DNA.
The Supreme x Vans Spring 2023 collection will be released in Europe and the United States online and in-store on June 1st, followed by a Japanese release two days later on June 3rd. Needless to say, like all Supreme collaborations since time immemorial, this one too will sell out in a matter of minutes (if not seconds).
