In the history of the small screen, South Park is one of the most NSFW (Not Safe For Work) animated TV series, to be avoided during work hours, at school, or in public situations, according to a classification in Italy that is more or less the equivalent of restricted to minors. The declared openness to drug use and the particular love of its main characters for cannabis, evident in all 25 series produced so far, is the basis of this restriction. In one episode, the character Randy Marsh decides to dedicate himself to the cultivation of weed, while in another, a KFC restaurant is transformed into a medicinal marijuana dispensary.

In April of last year, adidas launched a sneaker that paid tribute to the show. The German brand, in collaboration with South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, reimagined a pair of Campus 80s to resemble Towelie, the walking, talking, drug-using towel. The shoes were equipped with a French terry upper covered in lavender with illustrations of eyes on the tongue that turn pink and bloodshot when exposed to ultraviolet light.

Following this initial release, which sold out immediately, adidas and South Park have come together again to design a new series of sneakers. The six new models are inspired by the most beloved characters of the animated series and have immediately caught our attention.

The Forum Low, with a design inspired by 80s basketball, stands out in a classic leather version in playful colors inspired by the attire of the cynical Cartman, one of South Park’s main characters, alongside Stan, Kyle, and Kenny.

The NMD_R1 V2 is available in a colorway reflecting the super villain alter ego of Butters, Professor Chaos. This limited edition features a turquoise silhouette with silver foil details and hemp green accents.

A personalized Superstar is dedicated to Kyle Broflovski in a lime green and satsuma colorway reminiscent of his attire. Even the three stripes on adidas’ most famous shoe have been reworked with a subtle fade.

Another icon from the adidas family, the Stan Smith, has been updated to resemble Stan Marsh‘s blue and red puffball hat. The sneaker is now available with a bright blue and red leather upper, made with at least 50% recycled materials, making it the most sustainable among the six South Park models.

The NMD_R1, the model that Pharrell Williams has been reworking with adidas since 2016, is available in a colorway resembling the orange attire of the immortal character Kenny. The South Park NMD_R1 features a furry cotton interior mimicking Kenny’s parka lining.

Completing the collection are the Forum Low AWESOM-O 4000, reimagined inspired by Cartman’s robot alter ego. Silver details adorn the sneakers, with a graphic upper featuring eyes and a mouth, and curly spring laces.
