Just as the Stan Smith did for tennis, the Superstar revolutionized basketball shoes in the ’70s, as the leather structure replaced the canvas that had dominated until then. Like with many legendary silhouettes, the Superstar gradually evolved, especially within the hip hop scene that propelled the silhouette in the mid ’80s.
SNS is set to release a 5-piece collection in collaboration with Japanese designer Kazuki Kuraishi to accompany the celebration of the 50th anniversary of adidas Originals Superstar, inspired by Kazuki’s previous work with adidas themed “Kinenbi.”
The adidas Originals Superstar features a customizable velcro upper with floral patches. Drawn from Kazuki’s 2007 Velcro adidas Adicolor project, SNS pays homage to the original project and provides the opportunity to add pieces from the collection onto the upper to match with the clothing.
