As with the Niobium Concept 1, Tokyo Design Studio returns to the R_C4 after a special collab in 2019.
Founded by Yukio Yamai, Snow Peak is a Japanese brand specializing in outdoor activities offering highly technical clothing and products used for outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. In the sneaker industry at the moment, they are known for their collaborations and creative partnership with the Tokyo Design Studio at New Balance on high-tech silhouettes like Niobium Concept 1 from last year.
Once again, the two teams have revisited the R_C4 which they reworked back in 2019 following their first take on the RC_1 from the previous year. Applying a similar style, this time opting for a mid-cut style with the entire upper decorated in all-black. Rich in technical elements, the upper has been constructed using ripstop CORDURA material and a GORE-TEX base. The midsole has been injected with ABZORB foam along with an ENCAP REVEAL structure with an outsole made by none other than Vibram. A neoprene tongue gives way to a strap curving around the collar and fastened by a FIDLOCK closure. With a minimal logo complementing, it is noticeable on each side and on the insole with a double logo.
The Snow Peak x New Balance Tokyo Design Studio R_C4 Mid ‘Triple Black’ arrives at selected retailers on February 19th and online at the best sneaker stores in Europe.
