A nice new pair of brand new sneakers is what you need to face the inevitable end of the holidays and the return to the usual routine. For a smooth comeback, you need cool and eye-catching kicks, to choose among the latest releases available in stores and online. Among nostalgic proposals, soft versions with snug uppers, and materials that hint at more autumnal climates, here are the ones to bet on now.
Saucony Originals
The Shadow 6000 from Saucony Originals celebrates 30 years, but it doesn’t lose an ounce of the charm that made it famous. Launched in 1991 and designed to be the ideal shoe for high-mileage runners looking for the right balance between heel stability, flexibility, and forefoot cushioning, the original model featured a very innovative sole for the time, with the VIP system (Vertical Ionic Pillars) that offered greater comfort to the stride. Today, the American brand reissues it with a profile that harks back to the running forms of that period, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist while still maintaining a somewhat chunky shape. The upper is made of premium suede with an interweaving of panels and mesh inserts, while the midsole in the new PWRRUN soft, light, featherweight blend manages to combine simplicity and efficiency. Comfortable and structured at the same time, the new Shadow 6000 is presented as the first release in the OG version in white, gray, and navy, with other dedicated drops and limited editions to follow.
New arrivals at Reebok in the Legacy line, which draws inspiration from the archives with an irresistible old school attitude. The new Classic Leather Legacy AZ pays homage to the past while winking at the future: the silhouette takes on the unmistakable design of the AZTEC II silhouette, one of the icons in the Reebok heritage. To give it a contemporary touch, angular lines, a high midsole, and an intentionally oversized heel clip have been introduced. Available in two colorways: chalk, alabaster, and green; and gray, chalk, and soft pink.
A deliberately unisex new design, with eco-friendly details that evoke nostalgia from the ’70s: the September novelty from New Balance, set to release exactly on the 4th of the month, is the XC-72 silhouette, a version that joins the 327 and 237 models within the Shifted collection. Retro-futuristic aesthetics and super innovative materials, designed to preserve the environment for generations to come, with a CR triple-texture sole and a chrome-free leather and suede upper.
Nike
The winged horse returns in style with the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 FlyEase. Some elements from the previous model remain, such as the reactive foam, while the breathable mesh on the upper combines comfort and durability, along with the FlyEase fitting system that allows for easy and quick donning of the shoe with a zipper instead of the traditional lacing, usable even with one hand. With this sneaker, it will feel like you have a spring in your step: the Nike React foam, light, responsive, and durable, has been added without adding bulk, while the Air Zoom unit provides greater elasticity with each step. The fit is secure and snug thanks to the weave on the medial area, while the foam tongue reduces pressure on the top of the foot.
The newest member of the UA HOVR family is the UA HOVR Mega 2 Clone, a sneaker that offers maximum cushioning. The secret lies in the UA HOVR foam sole, which extends over the entire length and ensures a smooth run and a soft yet super reactive ride. It is the first running shoe by Under Armour to offer a 1:1 custom fit through the new UA Clone technology, which flexes and adapts to the moving foot, locking and centering it above the UA HOVR foam. The result is a smoother stride, better energy return, less friction, and more comfort for every runner. Soft and efficient, it proves excellent for long and medium-long distances. The carbon rubber on the heel improves durability in high-impact landing areas, and with a height of 32 mm, it can be considered an ideal shoe for those seeking maximum protection during training.
