Sneakers for Men, June Release Models

New month, new sneakers coming out to the delight of enthusiasts. The trend shows no sign of slowing down, on the contrary, it continues to invest more and more to grab the newest models and the most stylish reissues. Here is GQ’s selection for June, a prelude to summer evoking sunny hues and energetic details.

New Balance

Launching on June 6th is the 327, a new lifestyle silhouette from the American brand. It combines a trio of historical models from the Boston-based team, namely the 320, the 355, and the Supercomp running shoes. The result is a trainer suitable for daily use, with a pig skin suede and nylon upper that provides optimal breathability and superb comfort. The midsole features a contemporary design with an outward-spreading structure, while the sculpted rubber outsole extends up to the heel just like the heritage versions from the ’70s.

Vans x Fergus Purcell

Following the first release with the Corner Shop series in May, a new collaboration called Acid wash doubles up the capsule collection between Vans and the British illustrator Fergus “Fergadelic” Purcell. The highlight is the prints that vividly decorate two of Vans’ most iconic models, the OG Authentic and OG Chukka LX, with a psychedelic burst of color. “The acid wash design is based on a memory from my youth, I wanted a pair of acid wash Vans since they came out in the late ’80s,” said Fergus. “I juxtaposed this memory – let’s call it surreal – with contemporary images of scratch cards, with the intention of creating shoes that might bring good luck.” Surely, we need it during these times!

AIM

Coverse x Carhartt

Converse continues its journey in textile upcycling through Renew, an initiative aimed at developing innovative and increasingly sustainable ways to create new products. The latest project born from this philosophy is Converse x Carhartt WIP Renew Chuck 70, where the iconic sneaker is clad in Carhartt’s workwear fabrics: 1,000 jackets, trousers, and overalls from the American brand collected by the British vintage retailer Beyond Retro, sorted into three color ranges, and then cut into butterfly shapes to create panels on the iconic lace-ups’ uppers. As a result, every pair of sneakers will have a different Tri-Panel from the next, making them unique even in their minimalist design. Furthermore, with the introduction of this model, it is estimated that over 108,000 textile items will be diverted from landfills.

adidas

Among the many releases from the German house, we appreciate the ZX 4000 4D, the new model in the ZX series that reimagines the iconic runners of the Eighties by hybridizing deliberately nostalgic silhouettes with a high-tech approach that incorporates biomechanics study in footwear construction. The upper is made from soft Primeknit material, lightweight and snug, while it sits on a 4D midsole created through digital printing technology: a cushion mixing oxygen and liquid resins, designed to provide stability and energy return in controlled and high-performing movements.

Lapstone & Hammer X Saucony Originals

Arriving in stores in a few days is the original Courageous Moc, a result of the collaboration between the two brands, both originating from Pennsylvania, who have joined forces in the Two Rivers project as a tribute to the Saucony River flowing through Philadelphia, the hometown of both brands. It is the first sneaker from the Saucony brand entirely hand-stitched, featuring an artisanal toe cap giving it a moc aesthetic. The silhouette showcases great attention to detail: black suede upper with purple and olive green accents, leather lining, sherpa-lined tongue, cork and EVA midsole with a serrated rubber outsole. The distinguishing mark is the Lapstone & Hammer brand stamped on the label and insole, with two pairs of laces available in either tonal flat waxed leather and cotton or more traditional black and purple.
