Sneakers, 10 new sustainable models for spring 2022

Each month we present the latest sneakers coming to the market. This time, however, we have focused on a selection of models that are more mindful of what is considered a major theme in the world of fashion, and beyond, namely sustainability. There are companies, among those listed below, that have built their business from the beginning around a more responsible commitment to the environment, others that are gradually getting there, using more and more recycled and recyclable materials, and/or of natural origin.

Louis Vuitton

It’s called Charlie and is considered the first unisex sneaker from the French luxury brand as well as the first to mark a significant step in terms of eco-responsibility by the brand which has decided to create a sneaker using 90% recycled and organic materials. The sole is made of 94% recycled rubber, the upper is made of synthetic material produced from recycled polyester and a layer of Biopolymers, a corn-based plastic, while the laces and tongue are entirely recycled in Econyl®, a 100% recycled and 100% recyclable nylon derived from plastic waste. Even the insole and lining are composed of recycled polyurethane and polyamide respectively. Lastly, the packaging is made of recycled cardboard and can be transformed into a portable bag.
