Our beloved sneakers have countless anniversaries, this year it’s the thirtieth anniversary of the legendary Huarache in the OG “Scream Green” colorway.
In recent times, we have seen the Huarache adapted to the changing times with the release of the Huarache EDGE, Huarache Drift, and the Adapt Huarache which have been making headlines in the industry. In fact, the last time we saw an OG build was at the end of 2019 as part of the Nike Crossover pack along with the Air Max 1.
A result of the inexhaustible genius of Tinker Hatfield, the Air Huarache has been a immediate game-changer since 1991. Tinker’s bold yet inspired design, with the neoprene inner sock, plastic heel clip, and white leather and nylon was so futuristic at the time, that it was likened to the TV character Buck Rogers, resonating with the theme of the TV series. Perhaps the most popular Huarache colorway of all time, the “Scream Green” in 1999 and again in 2014 made its way into the Swoosh catalog. Some years later, the Swoosh switched up the colors for a version inspired by the OG, in the original color block faithful to the first release in ’91.
The Air Huarache Scream Green is available starting from March 12th at a retail price of about 129.00 euros in the best sneaker stores and online on Nike’s release site.
