Prada and adidas Originals come together for the second time, in a collaboration that promises to be highly coveted this season, much like their first capsule. The protagonist of this new drop is one of the shoes that made history in 1970s basketball and beyond, the adidas Superstar which is now offered in three new color variations: black, white and black, silver and white, showcasing an undisputed icon of both sport and street style.
Craftsmanship is the essence of the new Prada Superstar sneaker, transferring the luxury codes of Prada into the adidas sportswear world: logos from both brands appear on the tongue, while the origin of each model is impressed on one side of the shoe: made in Italy. The sleek silhouette of the adidas Originals Superstar sneaker is made of full-grain leather with an inherently modern design, entirely unisex, first created in 1969. The essential character of the Superstar remains unchanged, as the shoe is timeless, needing not to be redesigned but enhanced. This asset also forms the basis of the digital campaign, a fantastic and surreal reworking of the actual process of creating the Prada Superstar, emphasizing the importance of craftsmanship and artisanal production above all else. Playing with proportions through a miniature reconstruction of Prada’s production spaces in Marche, viewers can observe the last careful touches being made to each new color variant. The Superstar is not to scale but oversized – this play of proportions amplifies and emphasizes the immediately recognizable features of the footwear – the triple stripes, the trefoil and the rubber shell toe – as well as the addition of the dual Prada and adidas Originals logos. The new Prada Superstar will be available starting September 8, 2020 in Prada boutiques and key adidas stores worldwide, as well as selected multibrand stores and online on prada.com and adidas.com.
