If 2022 saw the birth of a shoe inspired by the outdoor universe, essential for the winter season, 2023 is the scenario of a new merging between the worlds of Pharrell Williams and his brand Humanrace, in collaboration with adidas. The duo surprisingly unveils a new, unreleased line, named NMD S1 MAHBS, launched in a combination of blue and cream colors. The 49-year-old singer, inspired by outdoor activities, once again wanted to create a shoe that was suitable for the outdoors, especially for exploration. “The MAHBS is another opportunity to give expression to humans in groups, to a crowd. With this shoe, we wanted to convey a real charge of positivity,” Pharrell Williams stated in a release. Natural materials were used in the project. The details of the sneakers were developed using a series of innovative techniques: the Humanrace logo was screen-printed on the right side of the shoe in a bluish hue, while the heel was spray-painted resulting in a strong visual contrast between the upper and sole of the new model. In their various collaborations, Pharrell Williams and adidas always pay close attention to the soles.
“Promoting the future, inspiring”
Two soles interweave to provide maximum cushioning under the foot. The rubber sole offers ideal traction for movement, especially thanks to its mini ridges. The sneaker’s knit upper ensures a comfortable fit for the foot, while the canvas used for the exterior is able to soften over time, revealing a more “lived-in” look. “It’s a hybrid of innovation and targeted work aimed at improving the quality of life, inspiring,” the artist stated in a release. “Humanrace is a nod to our intentions about the future of well-being,” he added. On January 27, the first NMB S1 MAHBS will be available on the Confirmed app and on the adidas and Humanrace websites. The new series will be available to the public in stores and at select retailers.
