If there’s one boring thing before a departure, it’s packing. You’d like to stuff everything in, but you can’t. Space is limited, and so is the weight. Yet sometimes, and not just out of vanity, you may need multiple outfit changes: from a more formal one for a meeting, for example, to a sporty and casual one for free time. So what to opt for? Fashion has come to the aid of these always-on-the-go gentlemen with intelligent strategies that allow you to carry even a formal suit in a simple carry-on bag without the risk of finding it crumpled once landed.
Lardini, for example, launches Easy Wear, a suit with a tailored line made of water-repellent fabric that can be folded and removed, as needed, from a small case (30cm x 20 cm) with a zipper closure, without needing to be ironed. The project is currently dedicated to the SS season but will continue for the next winter, and will also include individual jackets, blazers, and trousers made not only of wool crepe, with a special finish that makes the texture anti-wrinkle, but will also see flannels treated externally with rain protection (Rain System) and a “technical” wool that extends the houndstooth and pinstriped pattern.
The BOSS Travel line also targets the lightweight, breathability, and versatility of travel items. So if tailoring is defined by high-performance fabrics and careful construction, the suits and jackets are made of natural stretch wool that allows comfortable movement and is resistant to wrinkles, while the internal construction is reduced and light. There is a single-breasted sports jacket that can be folded into its integrated pouch, and the work shirt has fabric enriched with aloe vera for softness. Also, the interior of each item is meticulously crafted with well-thought-out but not immediately visible details: the enlarged inner pockets have a zip to store tickets and passport, earphone cord loops, and perforated linings to improve breathability. The double-faced jackets are very functional, revealing two different looks in a single item, and the new models fold entirely onto themselves to become a travel pillow for long journeys. The line also includes a lightweight and soft caban, khaki parka, or featherweight bomber in tear-resistant fabric. From **Element,** the Travel Well Collection is a collection of compressible and lightweight jackets, shoes, and bags designed for any type of travel.
References to explorative atmospheres, like Paul Bowles in his “Tea in the Sahara,” are the ethereal scarves by Faliero Sarti, inseparable travel companions made of noble materials. The theme of travel is the key to the new Eastpak collection created in collaboration with the French brand Paul & Joe. A fresh and contemporary capsule, offering durable and functional products with striking prints, perfect for the urban explorer with a long list of places to visit. Essential items to pack include sunglasses, and the Ray-Ban Round model is ideal for when you need to occupy tiny spaces. Ultra-thin metal arms and profiles, coined details, and a foldable mechanism all fit in the palm of your hand, making them perfect for slipping into your pocket.
