Twenty years after the release of the first model, 2021 marks the anniversary of the iconic 991, a cult shoe made at New Balance’s UK factory in Flimby.

The 991 model was launched in 2001 as the predecessor to the 990v2, and was the first among the iconic 99x series shoes to feature an ABZORB insert in the forefoot and under the heel with a new and improved midsole design. Additionally, it offered a streamlined toe cap and superior comfort like that found in the broader family of performance models of that era. M991ANI and W991ANI are available at selected retailers worldwide starting on February 26, 2021, with additional colorways to be released throughout the anniversary year.
