Levi’s continues to celebrate its 150 years, and calls on New Balance for what could soon become your favorite sneaker, especially if you have a passion for mountain biking. This new project involving the two brands refers to the mountains of Marin County, California, and the youth culture of the era, where in the 1970s boys and girls rode and raced downhill on forest roads on the predecessors of modern MTBs, the clunker bikes, wearing a pair of denim. A choice of pants not by chance, but perfect for durability in case of falls and accidents. Practically an everyday requirement.
The collaboration uses Levi’s denim on the classic New Balance MT580 model. Originally launched in 1996, the new reissue of the MT580 brings back to life the iconic chunky model with a trail-inspired design, revised with a slimmer toe that combines a meticulous construction that faithfully recreates the original materials, pairings, and features.
Inspired by the aesthetics and typical models of bikes of that era, the collaboration is offered in two color variants: Grey Blue, made with nubuck upper, features Levi’s denim inserts on the toe and sides, while the Beige Black, made with suede upper, is characterized by Levi’s denim inserts on the toe and sides.
Sold in a special packaging that tells the story of the birth of mountain biking, each sneaker comes with three sets of laces and is distinguished by the classic Levi’s® Red Tab. The new Levi’s x New Balance MT580 collaboration will be launched on December 6, 2023, on Levi’s and on December 7, 2023, on New Balance channels. The collection will be available worldwide on Levi.com, on the Levi’s® App, in some Levi’s® Stores, and on newbalance.com.
