Looking to the future without forgetting the past are the Wave Prophecy Sorayama sneakers, designed for Mizuno by Hajime Sorayama, the visionary Japanese artist and illustrator known worldwide for creating the “Sexy robots” genre, depicting cyborgs in erotic poses. A powerful and precise imaginary that has earned him cult collaborations with names like Dior, Stella McCartney, Uniqlo, and Hypebeast. A choice far from random for the sportswear company born in Osaka in 1906, whose philosophy from the beginning has been to contribute to the improvement of society through the development of sport and the production of high-quality sports articles. “We believe in developing products that work in harmony with your body, to provide maximum support and thus allow each athlete to give their best,” reads the brand’s status. A successful partnership that ties the two Japanese icons together thanks to their unique mix of tradition and modernity.
Designed to celebrate the 10th generation of the historic Wave Prophecy, the models of the second customized release by Sorayama come after the sensational sold-out debut. On this occasion, a futuristic metallic black livery colors the shoes, hybridizing minimalism and hi-tech as never before. The creative ability and avant-garde vision mixed with the pure realism that have made Sorayama legendary are evident in the upper of these sneakers that seem to float in the air: the structural technology of the Infinity Wave sole composed of large holes integrates perfectly with the extreme concept of the transparent and waterproof upper, made of resin. The design continues in step with performance: flexible and lightweight, the sneakers ensure a smooth stride and excellent cushioning. Recognizable by the logo positioned inside the sole and the dual name on the insole, this limited edition drop of the Wave Prophecy Sorayama will be available from November exclusively at select physical and online stores.
