Men’s Fashion 2020, the coolest collaborations

Never before in the latest fashion presentations for 2020 have there been so many special collaborations between seemingly very different brands, both in style and geographical origin. The current year promises plenty of novelties and excitement, with the launch of some pieces that already seem destined to become cult favorites. The spotlight is undoubtedly on sneakers, but hybridizations in clothing also offer great satisfaction. Here, according to GQ, are the best seen so far.

Sacai x Nike

As the Sacai x Nike LD Waffle was undoubtedly one of the most popular sneakers of the past season, the visionary Chitose Abe, the creative mind behind the Japanese brand, did not hesitate to bring back a remastered version in her latest Parisian runway show featuring the collection for the upcoming winter 2020. The chosen model is the Nike Vaporwaffle, given a bold edge by Sacai with acid tones complementing puffer jackets and cargo pants, in a successful blend of manga style and military precision.

Colmar x White Mountaineering

Another Japanese brand, another interesting fusion: it’s the unique collaboration linking Colmar with White Mountaineering, two specialists in the outdoor clothing sector. Drawing directly from the archives of the Monza-based brand, designer Yosuke Aizawa has reinterpreted some iconic pieces borrowed from the world of skiing, readapting them for a decidedly more urban use.

Random Identities x Birkenstock

If you still don’t know who is behind the name Random Identities, you can’t even remotely consider yourself a true fashionista. It’s the new venture led by Stefano Pilati, entrepreneur of himself after departing from Saint Laurent. Ready-to-wear pieces designed to meet the needs of digital generations, seamlessly blending with the avant-garde new era of Birkenstock, which for several seasons has been revitalizing the unmistakable German sandal with buckles. A trio of eclectic versions of the Arizona model paraded alongside sartorial proposals like pinstripes and tuxedo pants, with stretch inserts, brocades, and animal prints.

Off-White x Jordan

Virgil Abloh doesn’t settle for just reshaping hoodies and tracksuits to his liking, in the latest show of the Off-White brand, he also redesigned the silhouette of the Air Jordan 5, remixed in a futuristic street style, with a smoky gray upper and reflective tongue. The official release date has not been revealed yet, but we bet they will be a success.

Victor VIRGILE

MSGMx Cult

The rock-inspired boots from Cult combine with the irreverent and unconventional aesthetic of MSGM, the Milanese brand designed by Massimo Giorgetti that celebrated its first 10 years of activity in 2019. Steel-toe caps and calfskin uppers as per tradition, both the boots and the derby shoes in this special capsule feature contrasting stitching and a logoed tongue with the inscription “Sleeping with my demons”.

adidas Originals by Craig Green

Already available in stores on January 31st, the sneakers designed by Craig Green for adidas Originals have quickly become a cult favorite. The initial phase of the collaboration signed by the English designer transforms the sports shoes of the German brand into true ergonomic sculptures, with the uppers of the CG Kontuur I and CG Kontuur II models seamlessly merging aesthetically with the design soles.

Valentino Garavani x Onitzuka Tiger

Highlighter shades like orange, pink, and yellow, as well as classic chalk white: these are the 4 different colors of the Onitzuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD that paraded inside the Galerie Courbe of the Grand Palais for Valentino. An unexpected yet delightfully surprising collaboration between the Italian Maison and the historic Japanese sneaker brand. Pierpaolo Piccioli didn’t alter the lines, but added a large V on the sides of the sneakers that will delight all collectors.
