Maison Margiela and Reebok continue their creative partnership with the launch of the new edition of the Tabi Instapump Fury.
Maison Margiela and Reebok present a further evolution of the Tabi Instapump Fury, the sneaker launched at the beginning of 2020 resulting from the fusion of the classic Instapump Fury sneaker from the American sportswear brand born in 1994 and the iconic Tabi split-toe footwear from the French couture house born in 1988.
Introduced as part of the spring-summer 2021 collection, the new Tabi Instapump Fury Oxford represents a calf derby model characterized by Reebok’s typical The Pump technology and a chunky sole available in black, white, and yellow. The values of haute couture of Maison Margiela inspire a collaboration devoted to expert and futuristic craftsmanship, merging Reebok’s technical innovations with the ongoing reflection on the relationship between humanity and technology in the digital era, central themes in Maison Margiela’s practice.
Hybridizing the most familiar codes of the two iconic models, the Tabi’s leather split-toe upper forms the base for a new derby later transformed by Reebok’s The Pump technology, an inflation system developed in 1989 to provide athletes with a snug and customized fit. A transformation that recalls elements of Maison Margiela’s philosophy.
The derby is set on an original Retro Fit sole, the sneaker launched by Maison Margiela in 2018, while the heel design interprets the Instapump Fury. Like the original Reebok sneaker, the outsole is composed of expandable rubber and sponge in various colors. To enhance flexibility and stability, a layer of Hexalite is integrated into the sole.
Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi Instapump Fury Oxford is available in selected Maison Margiela boutiques, on Reebok.it and www.maisonmargiela.com.
