Founded in Los Angeles in 2017 by Josué Thomas, Gallery Dept. meets the Vans archive to revamp the Rowley XLT, first introduced to the market in 2001 as the signature shoe of Geoff Rowley, a renowned skater on the Vans team.
“As trends shift towards ’90s skate culture, the Rowley XLT emerges as a new classic of today, with 20 years of history behind it,” says Josué Thomas. “Not only does the Rowley XLT LX embody the spirit of Gallery Dept. but it captures an era that we believe will always be timeless.”
Characterized by an exaggerated silhouette, the Vault by Vans x Gallery Dept. Rowley XLT LX feature a thick tongue and oversized collar.
Crafted from high-quality leather and suede, they will be available in five colorways. The Blue Steel and Neapolitan colorations introduce unique tonal contrasts, while the Giraffe style showcases an animal print, and the Multi version offers an all-over color-blocking design. The Flame colorway embraces maximalism, with zebra-striped sidestripe and embroidered heel graphic that reads “Art That Kills.”
All models come with a lightweight EVA midsole that provides maximum comfort and shock absorption, and an enhanced heel clip.
The five-piece collection Vault by Vans x Gallery Dept. will be available on November 10th at gallerydept.com, followed by a global release of the Blue Steel and Neapolitan colorways on November 11th online and at selected Vault by Vans retailers.
