It all started in 1989. When the second chapter of the “Back to the Future” saga hit the big screen, where the protagonist Marty McFly was catapulted into 2015, the whole world went crazy for the idea of self-lacing shoes, the Nike Mag, which entered the pop culture as the ultimate futuristic footwear. And now that those mythological sneakers have become a reality, the world is ready to go crazy again: Marty’s shoes have been produced in an ultra-limited series of only 89 pairs, to celebrate the year of the movie release, and will become the coveted prize of an online charity lottery that will fund the activities of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.

The bond between the Nike brand and the foundation named after the famous Back to the Future actor has been strong since 2011 when the first model of Nike Mag was produced and auctioned in a few units, raising a total of $10 million donated entirely to research. The 2016 edition of the legendary sneakers, however, has the advantage of leveraging the new HyperAdapt 1.0 technology developed by Nike, allowing the shoe to conform to the shape of the wearer’s foot through an electronic system controlled by two simple buttons: a technological innovation that aims to revolutionize the future of footwear.

To try to win the new Nike Mags, you need to participate in the special lottery on the Nike.com website, which – unfortunately – has been reserved for North American customers: until October 11, you can purchase one or more $10 tickets to enter the final draw. At the same time, three pairs of the legendary sneakers will be auctioned in Hong Kong, London, and New York. Once again, the entire proceeds of the initiative will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
