The new “Discover and Celebrate” collaboration pays tribute to the city of Washington DC.
The relationship between DTLR and New Balance is very strong and over the years has been solidified, with the two brands often working together on special releases. In line with this, both parties have come together once again to launch this exclusive collaboration on the New Balance 992 “Discover and Celebrate” that pays homage to Washington DC. The color palette is heavily based on both shades of grays and vibrant accents on the upper and back. Layers of mesh, synthetic toe and heel overlays, and gray suede intertwine alongside black contrasts along the suede overlays on the midfoot, on the tongues, and on the laces. The “N” logos on the walls accent a stark black filling accompanied by gray edges. The colorway, considering Ben’s Chili Bowl (a famous DC restaurant) and the Washington Nationals baseball team share the same colors, was surely influenced by these renowned locations and this might be what inspired DTLR in using them.
