Asics looks to the past for a new generation of sneakers dedicated to true connoisseurs. The Japanese sportswear brand will unveil the new evolution of the famous Gel-Lyte Evo and Gel-Kayano Trainer Evo shoes, beloved in the Nineties. The Gel-Kayano Trainer model, created by designer Toshikazu Kayano, was launched as the first shoe for “long distance runners.” Inspired by the armored shell of beetles, it has had over 20 reinterpretations in the past 22 years. For the lifestyle world, the original design has been maintained, making it a celebrated sneaker. The Gel-Lyte III, designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990, transformed the structure of conventional shoes. In a time when technicality took precedence over style, the designer wanted to create “the best running shoe with the highest level of technology and functionality,” as well as “with refined design, unlike existing shoes.” And now, after 25 years, both models are refreshed.

The Gel-Kayano Trainer Evo sneakers will be available in selected stores starting from July. Meanwhile, the Gel-Lyte Evo will be distributed in Asics Tiger Premium stores from October.
