After the much awaited return of the Stan Smith, adidas Originals kicks off a year of tributes to the Superstar, the sneaker that, starting from its origins as a sports shoe, has become a cornerstone of streetwear. Born on basketball courts in the seventies, and rapidly adopted by most NBA professionals for its technical features that made it perfect on the court – lightness and comfort first and foremost – the shoe then had its golden age in the eighties, thanks to hip-hop culture.
In the early nineties, a new chapter in its history: the Superstar model also became linked to the world of skateboarding with Mark Gonzales legitimizing the sneaker in skate-inspired street culture. Fashion was changing and sports shoes were no longer just for athletes, in fact. And adidas’ model was one of those shoes. For the upcoming spring/summer season, the brand thus creates the Superstar Vintage Deluxe Pack: a remake of the iconic model where you can find all those details that have made the Superstar a true urban legend: the characteristic shell toe in the front, side perforations, tone-on-tone laces, the classic adidas stripes in navy blue, red, green, and black suede paired with the label.
