adidas and Prada continue their partnership and present a new phase of their collaboration. So far, the partnership between the two brands has been expressed through Prada’s reinterpretation of adidas’ sports world, revisiting the Superstar model in two successful releases, Prada for adidas 2019 and Prada for adidas 2020. Do you remember them? Now, roles reverse, with the German brand entering into that of the Italian fashion house, creating the innovative sneaker silhouette A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team. The innate passion shown by Prada and adidas for sports performance is nothing new. For over twenty years, Prada has been involved with the Luna Rossa sailing team in the America’s Cup, the oldest sporting trophy in the world. adidas, on the other hand, with its continuous commitment to pioneering sports innovation and precision technology, became part of the America’s Cup between 2005 and 2007 by outfitting a “challenger” team.

Designed for sailing, the A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 footwear draws inspiration from the design of the new AC75 Luna Rossa boat and the iconic Prada and adidas sneakers from the past. The silhouette, elegant and lightweight in appearance, celebrates a shared heritage of sporting excellence and is designed to be an extension of the athlete’s body, offering a flexible stability comparable to being barefoot. The sneakers, specifically designed to offer maximum technical performance, will be worn in competition by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, while a lifestyle version will be available for fans of both brands.

As a testament to the commitment of the two brands to innovation and sustainability, A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 represents a step forward in environmental protection. The upper, in fact, is made of a series of high-performance recycled materials and an external hydrophobic coating, which provides flexible and breathable support and prevents water from penetrating inside the shoe. The ergonomically designed tongue in EVA compound along with the soft perforated faux suede inner lining accentuate its performance capabilities for sailing, while the perforated BOOST midsole and the wrap-around sole ensure high protection, durability, and freedom of movement. The laces have been specially designed to be tight at the bottom for quick lacing with the Speed Lacing system and wider at the top to prevent them from easily coming undone during the race. The new sneakers are presented in a waterproof customized pouch with a refined box showcasing both logos.
